Maria Jordan began her professional career in 1947 in the Dept. of Biology & Embryology, Jagiellonian University. From 1955 until the retirement in 1988 in the Dept. of Experimental Zoology, Polish Academy of Sciences (since 1969 a part of the Institute of Systematic and Experimmental Zoology). 1976-1988 Head of the Dept. of Experimental Zoology.
1976-1987 Editor-in-chief of Folia Biologica (Kraków).
Research activities of Maria Jordan were focused at three disciplines: regeneration of amphibian central nervous system; karyology and karyosystematics of mammals (including humans) and insects; impact of pesticides on the environment.
