The main task of the Institute are researches devoted to different aspects of animal systematics, paleontology, faunistics, and cytology. All scientific projects carried out in the Institute's departments are focused on three main disciplines: zoology of vertebrates, zoology of invertebrates and experimental zoology.    Apart from its research activities, the Institute has provided facilities for education. It possesses formal rights to nominate candidates for the scientific degree of Ph.D. and Habilitation. Both graduate and postgraduate students, interested in the aformentioned disciplines of biology, are welcome to prepare their master and doctoral theses in our departments.
