The entire professional career of Marian Młynarski was strictly connected with our institution. Initially a volunteer, he was formally employed in 1951. Retired in 1986. 1960 to 1986 Head of the Dept. of Vertebrate Zoology. 1965 to 1972 Deputy Director of the Institute.
Among founders of the Herpetological Section of Polish Zoological Society, since 1986 President of the organization, then its Honorary Member. In 1983 elected President of the World Paleocheloniological Society. Consultant to the Ministry of the Nature Protection.
Marian Młynarski was active in many different fields of herpetology, but his principal research interest has always remained in chelonian paleontology.
